Brad Marchand was cut from the 2011 Stanley Cup DVD

Brad Marchand has proven to be a clutch player during the Florida Panthers’ second consecutive Stanley Cup run. This year’s victory marked Marchand’s second Cup title, his first coming in 2011 with the Boston Bruins. But in the Stanley Cup DVD released after the Bruins’ win, Marchand was noticeably absent—and the reason is hilarious.

The Florida Panthers are in full celebration mode after securing back-to-back Stanley Cup championships. It’s tradition to celebrate a Cup win in style, and there are countless stories of wild parties, extended celebrations, and even some unfortunate mishaps involving the Cup itself.

Marchand played a key role in the Bruins’ 2011 championship. He scored two goals and added an assist in Game 7 against the Vancouver Canucks, helping Boston capture its first Stanley Cup since 1972. The celebrations that followed became legendary—most famously, a photo of the team’s bar tab totaling $156,000 at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.
However, when the official Stanley Cup DVD was released to commemorate the win, Marchand was nowhere to be seen.

Why? He partied a little too hard.
The day after the now-iconic night out at Foxwoods, players were scheduled to be interviewed for the DVD. But Marchand was too hungover—or possibly still drunk—to make it.
“After the Cup, linemate Tyler Seguin and I went on a bit of a tear, partying pretty much every night for a while. I went home and kinda continued it. I thought winning a championship was something that might never happen, so I was trying to take it all in, enjoy it,” Marchand recalled in an interview, according to Larry Brown Sports.
And unfortunately, it looks like he might have missed his chance to appear in this year’s DVD as well.
