Connor McDavid’s wife takes social media dig at Brad Marchand

Brad Marchand continues to live rent-free in the heads of the Edmonton Oilers. During the Panthers’ demolition of their opponents in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday, Connor McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle, took to Instagram to take a big shot at the Panthers’ veteran star.

Marchand made NHL history on Monday, becoming the oldest player ever to score in each of the first three games of a Stanley Cup Final. While his goal in Game 1 didn’t mean much—since the Florida Panthers still lost—he’s been crucial in their back-to-back wins in Games 2 and 3. He scored the OT winner in Game 2 in Edmonton, and he opened the scoring early in Game 3 in Florida, beating Stuart Skinner through heavy traffic in front of the net.

Marchand’s trade deadline acquisition has been a massive success for the Panthers. He’s already exceeded expectations—bringing grit, physical play, and plenty of offense. Marchand has always been a standout in the NHL, but he’s absolutely thrived since joining an already hard-nosed Panthers squad.

He’s also never been one to pass up an opportunity to get under his opponents’ skin—and that’s exactly what’s happening in the Finals. On Monday night, even Connor McDavid’s wife got in on the action.

During Game 3, Kyle shared an Instagram story about the “Alberta Rat Control Program,” which was established in 1950 and has helped keep the province essentially rat-free. By posting a screenshot of the program’s info, it was clear she was taking a jab at Marchand—widely known as the NHL’s biggest rat. The Panthers aren’t exactly denying it either. After wins, they’ve continued their tradition of launching plastic rats on the ice—many of them aimed right at Marchand.
