John Tavares is a Canadian centre for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the first overall pick of the 2009 NHL Draft. Tavares scored his 500th NHL goal in October 2025, the 49th player to reach the mark. Tavares took a discount to stay in Toronto and is under contract through 2028-29.
