Dave Keon won the Conn Smythe Trophy in the spring of 1967 as the best player in the playoffs, giving Toronto its last Stanley Cup.
Then nothing happened for 25 seasons. From 1967-68 through 1991-92, not one Maple Leafs player and not one Maple Leafs coach won a single major NHL award. Not the Hart, not the Calder, not the Vezina, not the Norris, not the Selke, not the Lady Byng, not the Jack Adams. The club’s trophy drought and its Stanley Cup drought began in the same week, and only one of them has ended; the other is laid out year by year in every Leafs playoff exit since 1967.
It ended with two at once. In 1992-93 Doug Gilmour won the Selke Trophy, and Pat Burns won the Jack Adams Award, in the season Gilmour still talks about.

Which trophy have the Maple Leafs won most?
The Calder, ten times, and the first of them is the better fact. Syl Apps won the Calder Trophy in 1936-37, which was the first season it was awarded. Rookie of the year honors had been handed out since 1932-33, but the trophy itself began with Apps, and it began with a Leaf.
The gap in the middle of that list is the drought in miniature. Brit Selby won it in 1965-66, and the next Toronto winner was Auston Matthews, 51 years later in 2016-17.
The Lady Byng is second with nine, and Dave Keon won it in consecutive seasons in the early sixties, which, with his Calder and his Conn Smythe, makes him the second most decorated individual in club history.
How many Maple Leafs have won the Hart Trophy?
Three, and they are spread across eighty years: Babe Pratt in 1943-44, Ted Kennedy in 1954-55 and Auston Matthews in 2021-22. The full winners list runs from 1923-24 and holds exactly three Toronto names.
Between Kennedy and Matthews, there were 66 seasons without one. Matthews also took the Ted Lindsay Award that year, voted by the players, and his second Richard Trophy with 60 goals. One season, three trophies, and the only time a Leaf has done that.
He has six individual awards in total, which is more than anyone else in the club’s history: the Calder, three Richards, the Hart, and the Ted Lindsay. His goal record against each opponent is broken down in our team-by-team table.
When did a Maple Leafs goaltender last win the Vezina?
1964-65, when Johnny Bower shared it with Terry Sawchuk.
There is a large caveat on all six Toronto Vezinas, and it should be stated rather than hidden. Every one of them was won under the old rule, which gave the trophy to the goaltender on the team that allowed the fewest goals. The award only became a vote on the best goaltender in 1981-82. So Broda, Rollins, Lumley, Bower and Sawchuk won a team award, not a personal one.
Under the modern criteria, no Leafs goaltender has ever won it. And the trophy that inherited the old criteria, the Jennings, has never gone to Toronto either. That closes the loophole: on either definition, the club’s goaltending has not been honored since 1964-65.
Which major trophies have the Maple Leafs never won?
Three, and one of them is worse than it looks.
The James Norris Memorial Trophy for the best defenseman has been awarded since 1953-54, and no Leaf has won it. The Jennings Trophy has been awarded since 1981-82, and no Leaf has won it.
Then the Art Ross Trophy, for leading the NHL in points, has been awarded since 1947-48. Toronto has never won it, not because the club keeps finishing second. No Maple Leaf has led the NHL in scoring since Gordie Drillon in 1937-38, ten years before the trophy existed. Toronto had seven league scoring leaders before that, the last of them Drillon, and none since.
For a franchise that has had Keon, Mahovlich, Sittler, Sundin and Matthews, that is the strangest line in the record book, and it sits oddly beside the regular-season marks they do hold.
No Maple Leafs general manager appears among the winners of the league’s general manager award either.
Did the Toronto Arenas or St. Patricks ever win a trophy?
No, and for a plain reason: almost nothing existed to win.
The Hart was first awarded in 1923-24 and the Lady Byng in 1924-25, which overlaps the St. Patricks years, and neither has a Toronto winner from that period. Everything else came after the club was renamed in 1927.
One thing is worth adding, though. Babe Dye led the NHL in points twice as a Toronto St. Patrick, in 1922-23 and 1924-25, and there was no scoring trophy to collect. So the answer is no, but not because they were not good enough.
Updated when the club wins something.
