The Florida Panthers are absolutely flying at the moment. They won their fifth straight game on Thursday, with Jonah Gadjovich leading the way—not just with his fists, but with one of the most interesting penalty box moments of the season.
Gadjovich isn’t the most prolific player on the Panthers. He’s a bottom-six forward, but he’s still an important part of the team. He might not get the most minutes, but he always puts in the work and rarely makes a mistake. And when it comes to dropping the gloves, he rarely disappoints.
As the Panthers’ clear-cut enforcer, Gadjovich had a tough assignment on Thursday: take on one of the league’s toughest fighters. He had already dropped the gloves once in the game, but he went for round two—this time in a heavyweight showdown with Mathieu Olivier. The two warriors traded haymakers in a long, grueling tilt.
Jonah Gadjovich’s hilarious moment
Gadjovich earned praise from teammates and fans alike, especially after the Panthers cruised to a 3-0 win, extending their streak to five games.
“That second fight is two heavyweights, like there isn’t anybody on either bench that wants to be involved in that fight, coaches included,” head coach Paul Maurice said. “That’s impressive, what he’s willing to do for us.”
But it wasn’t just the fight that had fans talking—it was what Gadjovich did afterward. As he sat in the penalty box, it seemed like he had just noticed that his fingernails were too long. So, he made the most of his five minutes in the box by casually asking for a pair of scissors to trim them. At least, that’s what fans thought.
Postgame, Paul Maurice revealed that Gadjovich was actually clipping some split skin off his hands—damage from the big fight.
“That’s a level of testosterone that I will never get to,” Maurice said.
