Watching every Toronto Maple Leafs game this season takes three separate subscriptions, and for the first time in 74 years none of them are free. CBC lost Hockey Night in Canada when Rogers’ new twelve-year deal began, Wednesday nights moved exclusively to Amazon Prime Video, and the Toronto Maple Leafs’ regional games are still split between TSN and Sportsnet Ontario.
Which channels have Leafs games?
Regional games are split between TSN4 and Sportsnet Ontario — 40 of them last season, 26 on TSN and 14 on Sportsnet, though the split for this season has not been published. National games are on Sportsnet on Saturdays and Mondays, and on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesdays, which is exclusive. Rogers also has the right to convert roughly half the Leafs’ regional inventory into national broadcasts.
So what do I actually have to buy?
Three things, if you want every game. Sportsnet+ for the national games and in-market regional coverage; a TSN subscription for the TSN4 regional games; and Amazon Prime for Wednesdays. On cable it is the same problem in a different shape — you need both broadcasters’ channels.
What does that cost?
Sportsnet+ Standard is $34.99 a month or $269.99 a year, up from $29.99 and $249.99, with the increase taking effect on 22 September. Premium, which adds out-of-market games, is $44.99 or $344.99. TSN is $24.99 a month for Standard and $29.99 for Premium; TSN does not publish an annual price on its own subscription page. Amazon Prime is $9.99 a month or $99 a year, with the hockey included at no extra cost.
Is there any way to watch for free?
No. That is the change this season. CBC’s sublicence expired after the 2025-26 playoffs and was not renewed, ending free over-the-air NHL hockey in Canada. Citytv is not carrying games either. Every Leafs game now sits behind a paid subscription of some kind.
Who calls the games?
Not announced — Sportsnet unveils its hockey line-up in September. Last season TSN used Gord Miller with Mike Johnson, and Sportsnet used Chris Cuthbert with Craig Simpson. On radio, both Sportsnet 590 and TSN 1050 carry the games. Joe Bowen retired after 43 seasons; Todd Crocker has been reported as his successor with Jim Ralph on colour, though neither has been officially confirmed.
When do the Toronto Maple Leafs play?
Tuesday 29 September, at home to Montreal, at 7pm on Sportsnet — the league’s opening night.
