The biggest change for Montreal Canadiens fans this season is in French. RDS drops from 60 regular-season games to 45, TVA Sports climbs from 22 to 32, and seven more land on Amazon Prime Video in French — a platform that carried no French-language Habs hockey at all last year. On the English side, CBC’s free Saturday broadcasts are gone entirely.
Where are the Montreal Canadiens in French this season?
Split three ways. RDS has 45 regional games under a long-term Bell Media extension. TVA Sports holds a twelve-year national French-language sublicence from Rogers and carries 32. Amazon Prime Video has seven in French, on Wednesday nights. Bell has also signalled that some RDS games may move to Crave.
And in English?
TSN has 50 regional games, also under the Bell extension. Sportsnet has the rest of the national slate on Saturdays and Mondays, with Amazon Prime Video exclusive on Wednesdays.
What do I need to subscribe to?
A francophone fan needs RDS, TVA Sports and Prime. An anglophone needs TSN, Sportsnet+ and Prime. Either way it is three services to see everything — and there is no longer a free option, because CBC lost its NHL rights entirely when the Rogers deal began.

Sportsnet+ Standard is $34.99 a month or $269.99 a year from 22 September; TSN is $24.99 a month, with no annual price published on its own page; the Crave and TSN bundle is $37.99. Amazon Prime is $9.99 a month or $99 a year. TVA Sports and RDS have not published standalone streaming prices for this season.
Where are regional games blacked out?
The Canadiens’ regional territory is Quebec plus the Atlantic provinces, running east of roughly a Pembroke-to-Belleville line in Ontario. RDS and TSN regional broadcasts are blacked out outside it; national games carry no blackout.
Who calls the games?
On RDS, Pierre Houde with Marc Denis, from last season’s line-up; assignments for this year have not been announced. TSN’s English regional play-by-play has recently been Bryan Mudryk. Amazon has not named its French crew. Radio is TSN 690 in English and 98.5 FM in French.
When do the Montreal Canadiens play?
Tuesday 29 September, away to Toronto, on opening night. The home opener is 6 October against Carolina.
