Junior Years

Tkachuk played youth hockey for the St. Louis AAA Blues U16 team. From there, he joined the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. After two years in that program, he moved on to Boston University. As a freshman, he posted 8 goals and 31 points in 49 games.

NHL Career with Ottawa

The Ottawa Senators selected Tkachuk fourth overall in the 2018 NHL Draft. He signed his entry-level contract that August. He made his NHL debut on October 8, 2018, and scored twice in just his second game.

The Senators named Tkachuk an alternate captain ahead of the 2020-21 season. The following year, he signed a seven-year, $57.5 million extension. Just a month later, on November 5, 2021, Ottawa made him the tenth captain in franchise history.

The Blockbuster Trade to Florida

By 2026, Tkachuk had told Ottawa he wouldn't sign another extension when his deal expired. He also invoked his no-movement clause, limiting any trade to just four teams. On June 21, 2026, Ottawa sent him to the Florida Panthers.

Brady is the son of NHL legend Keith Tkachuk. His older brother, Matthew, plays for the Florida Panthers too, and Matthew won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2024 and 2025. Off the ice, Brady married Emma Farinacci. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Ryder, on September 16, 2024.
