Adam Lowry reunites with Rick Bowness after OT winner

The Winnipeg Jets closed out the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a game for the history books. After winning in the second overtime period, game-winner Adam Lowry gave a postgame interview that has NHL fans in tears.

The Jets did not have a great start in Game 7 against the St. Louis Blues. After the first period, the Presidents’ Trophy winners were down 2–0. But after mounting a serious push, they managed to tie the game with less than two seconds left, forcing overtime.

Two overtime periods

It then took almost two full overtime periods before Jets captain Adam Lowry deflected a shot from Neal Pionk, sending the Jets to the second round, where they will face the Dallas Stars. After the game, Lowry spoke to the TNT studio crew about the Jets’ advancement and his game-winning goal—when the studio surprised him.

Adam Lowry and Rick Bowness talk

As it turns out, his former coach Rick Bowness was in the studio for Game 7 and wanted to congratulate him. You could immediately see how happy Lowry was to hear Bowness’s voice. Their conversation revealed how much they still mean to each other. Bowness served as head coach of the Jets for two seasons: 2022–2023 and 2023–2024.
“That gutsy effort from that team tonight personifies you—your work ethic, your team commitment. Man, I couldn’t be happier for you. You know I love you, I miss you, and I couldn’t be happier for you, man,” Bowness told Lowry.
“Those words mean a lot to me. I love you, I appreciate the relationship and the time we got to spend together. We miss you in Winnipeg,” a very moved Lowry responded.
The second-round series between the Stars and the Jets begins on May 8 in Winnipeg. You can watch the interview below.
