Vancouver Canucks hilariously trolls media, after reporters looked at stick rack for clues

The Vancouver Canucks are in a tight position, trailing 3-1 before last nights game. That didn’t mean the PR team couldn’t have some fun, trolling the Vancouver media in the funniest way.

But it all started a couple of weeks ago.

In one of the games against the St Louis Blues, Alexander Edler was cut in the face by Jordan Kyrou’s blade. He didn’t return to the game and no one knew if or when he would return to play.

But just hours before the possible elimination game of the series, The Athletic’s reporter Thomas Drance got a clue about the possibility of Edler returning to the lineup.

A TV camera, angled at the Canucks bench, revealed Edler’s stick standing at the stick rack.

Sure enough, Edler played in the 6-2 win. Injuries have been concealed by the teams in this years postseason due to an agreement between the NHL and NHLPA, because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A couple of days later, the Canucks made the same mistake again with the Sportsnet camera catching a glimpse of the stick rack, showing Tyler Toffoli’s stick, revealing he’d be back in the lineup.

But that was the last time the Canucks made the same mistake.

In game three of the series, the team decided to put a well placed towel over the sticks, hiding them from the cameras.

#Stickgate was on, and the Canucks made sure to have some fun in the middle of the seriousness of competing for the Stanley Cup.

In game four, the Canucks had everyone on the team, including backups and coaches, on the rack. And last night, they made sure to troll the media.

The team wrote the names of Canucks’ media members on the sticks along with a couple of jokes.

You just gotta love this!
