Completed NHL seasons. He played no NHL games in 2014-15, 2015-16, or 2017-18. He made 113 AHL appearances for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms across five seasons, and knee surgery wiped out almost all of 2017-18. His one playoff appearance for Florida in 2024 came in relief in Game 4 of the final, and he played seven playoff games for Toronto in 2025, going 4-2.

Stolarz’s save percentage fell 33 points between 2024-25 and 2025-26, from .926 to .893, the steepest drop between two consecutive seasons in his career. In 2023-24, his .925 and a goals-against average of 2.03 had both led the league.

How tall is Anthony Stolarz?

Stolarz is 6’6″, or 198 centimeters, and almost every listing agrees on it. That is tall without being unusual anymore: several goaltenders have been listed at 6-7, and Florida’s Cooper Black became the tallest in NHL history when he debuted in October 2026 at 6-9.

Sources diverge on his weight: the NHL’s register and Hockey-Reference say 248 pounds; PuckPedia, 247; CapWages and Florida’s 2023 release, 243; and ESPN, 257. Florida general manager Bill Zito put the appeal plainly when the Panthers signed him: “Anthony’s size and exceptional rebound control make him a strong defender of the crease.”

What is Anthony Stolarz’s contract?

Stolarz signed a four-year extension with Toronto on 28 September 2025, worth $15,000,000 in total with a cap hit of $3,750,000 a season. It runs from 2026-27 through 2029-30, and he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2030.

“I got to a number that my family, agent and I felt comfortable with,” he told TSN. General manager Brad Treliving said the figure “gives Anthony some security, so happy to get it done.” It followed a two-year deal worth $5,000,000 that brought him from Florida in July 2024.

Will Anthony Stolarz or Sergei Bobrovsky start for Toronto?

Going into November 2026, that is unsettled. Toronto signed Bobrovsky as a free agent to a three-year contract worth $21,000,000 on the same day in July 2026 that it signed Jack Roslovic, making him the nominal starter.

Stolarz has not treated it as a demotion. He called the extension “a vote of confidence to me,” and said of Bobrovsky: “He’s a great goalie and a hell of a person.” Head coach Jim Hiller, who replaced Craig Berube in June 2026, said after one Stolarz start that “Bob was just so happy and thought he played remarkable.”

Why did Anthony Stolarz criticize his own team?

After Toronto lost 4-3 in overtime to Seattle on 18 October 2025, Stolarz publicly criticized the effort on the winning goal and, as TSN put it, singled out William Nylander. “You can’t let someone beat you up the ice there,” he said, and added: “You want to be on the ice in that situation, you’ve got to work hard.”

Nylander responded two days later: “Look, we’re teammates. He’s a great guy.” Craig Berube, the coach at the time, did not welcome the airing: players get frustrated, he said, and sometimes say things they should keep in the room.

Has Anthony Stolarz been injured?

Several times, and the club has rarely given details. In December 2024, Treliving said he would have a procedure to remove a loose body from his knee and estimated four to six weeks, adding that it was “not a reoccurrence” of earlier knee surgery. Stolarz left Game 1 of the 2025 second round against Florida on a stretcher after a collision with Sam Bennett; Toronto said only that he would not return and was being evaluated, and Berube said the next day the team did not yet know whether he had a concussion.

He last played on 11 November 2025 before a long absence that Toronto described only as upper body. Berube said nine days later that it was “obviously, worse than we thought” and that he had no timetable. Toronto sent him to the AHL’s Marlies on a conditioning loan on 20 January 2026, and he returned three days later. He then left a game against Washington early in the first period on 8 April 2026, which the Canadian Press reported as a lower-body injury, and did not play again that season.
