Claire Hanna is TSN’s Ottawa reporter, covering the Senators, and she worked rinkside on CBC’s women’s Olympic hockey coverage at Milano Cortina in 2026. Before any of it Claire Hanna was a libero on Canada’s national volleyball team, and before that she was cut from her university side. Her name is sometimes written Claire Hannah, and she is not the Northern Irish politician who shares it.

Who is Claire Hanna?
Claire Hanna is the reporter TSN sends to Ottawa Senators practices and press conferences, and her work appears across the network: Sens on TSN, Leafs on TSN, CFL on TSN, the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Wimbledon and March Madness. Her own biography lists all of it.
When CBC announced its broadcast team for Milano Cortina 2026 in October 2025, Hanna was named the rinkside reporter for the women’s tournament, working alongside play-by-play commentators Kenzie Lalonde and Cheryl Pounder and host Andi Petrillo. The channels and streams for Senators games are in our guide to how to watch the Ottawa Senators.
Did Claire Hanna play a sport?
Volleyball, for Canada, and the story starts with her being cut. Hanna joined the University of British Columbia team as a walk-on redshirt and was cut in her second year. She made the roster in her third, in 2008, and that season UBC won its first national championship in thirty years with Hanna named player of the game in the final.
“I was devastated when I was cut,” she told Faces Magazine.
Claire Hanna spent three seasons on the UBC roster and won a national championship in every one of them, in 2008, 2009 and 2010. She was named Canada West libero of the year in 2009 and 2010 and national libero of the year in 2010, and she played for Canada’s senior women’s team from 2009 to 2013, including the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara.

Her first television job lasted seven months, from September 2014 to April 2015, at a station in Lloydminster that has since closed. CBC later built a segment around how she got hired there.
She was also nominated for Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2014, for Road to Russia, a national mini-series on Shaw about Canadian athletes preparing for Sochi.
What has Claire Hanna reported about Brady Tkachuk?
She covered his departure, which is the biggest Senators story in years. Ottawa traded captain Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers on 21 June 2026 after he requested a move, receiving the ninth and twenty-fifth picks in the 2026 draft, a second-round pick in 2027 and a first-round pick in 2029. Tkachuk joined his brother Matthew in Florida.
Hanna reported the fallout from Ottawa: the club’s handling of the departure, and the question of who would wear the captaincy next. Her TSN bylines also cover his time there, including the practices he skated in a non-contact jersey, and she posted his parting message to Senators supporters after a press conference. That is why the two names turn up together in search suggestions. It is her reporting, not a connection of any other kind.
Did Claire Hanna cover the Olympics?
Three times, in two different jobs. Hanna worked for the Canadian Olympic Committee as a communications officer and in-house broadcaster at London 2012, where she interviewed Canadian medallists, and again at Sochi 2014, where she coordinated media access in Canada House and also did communications work with CBC.
Milano Cortina 2026 was the first time she was on air at a Games as a reporter rather than working behind the broadcast.
