Connor McDavid’s wife just fueled the Leafs rumors even more

Connor McDavid‘s wife just gave Toronto Maple Leafs fans something to talk about. Lauren McDavid posted photos of a new Maple Leafs-branded fleece sweater from her clothing line on Wednesday, and given how often McDavid’s name gets tied to Toronto in trade rumors, fans wasted no time reacting.

Lauren McDavid runs the clothing brand Sports Club Atelier, which started out selling Edmonton Oilers apparel before expanding into partnerships with Hockey Canada and a broader NHL license. On Wednesday, she posted to her Instagram story showing off a new dark blue, white, and grey Maple Leafs fleece sweater, asking followers which style they preferred.

Connor McDavid rumors

The timing couldn’t have been more loaded. McDavid has been the subject of persistent trade and free agency speculation linking him to Toronto for years, something Lauren herself has pushed back on in the past, once flatly stating her allegiance was to “the Oilers, obviously” when asked directly.

Still, a Maple Leafs-branded drop from her own brand was enough to send fans into a frenzy.
“I’m sure we will all react normally to these,” one fan wrote sarcastically.
“Well, I’m convinced. Ordering my McDavid Leafs jersey today,” another added.
“This is going to cause Alberta to separate lmao,” a third joked.
One fan even offered to buy in bulk: “I’ll buy 400 if you bring your husband here.”

For what it’s worth, the expansion into Maple Leafs apparel appears to be a straightforward business move rather than a hidden signal — Sports Club Atelier has made clear it plans to work with multiple NHL franchises, not just Edmonton. But with McDavid’s future never far from the rumor mill, it’s not hard to see why fans are reading into it anyway.
