Vancouver Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen made what some are calling the “save of the year” on a shot from Brandon Hagel. Hagel couldn’t believe it and had a hilarious reaction afterward.
The Vancouver Canucks didn’t put up much of a fight against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, as the Lightning won 6–2 after scoring four unanswered goals in the first half of the game.

Nikita Kucherov scored three points
Nikita Kucherov recorded three points — one goal and two assists — and is now in second place in the NHL scoring race, just one point behind Connor McDavid and three points ahead of Nathan MacKinnon.
“Our team has played a bit more of a direct game. Every time we get in trouble, our game gets too cute. … We’ve been spending too much time in our zone, and over the last couple of nights, the guys have made a big effort to push the puck north. We’ve defended well, and when we haven’t, the goalie has been there to make a save for us,” Lightning head coach Jon Cooper told NHL.com after the game.
Brandon Hagel’s reaction
The Lightning could have scored even more, but Lankinen came up with a spectacular save on a shot from Hagel. Fans online are calling it a “save of the year” candidate. Hagel had an open net after a cross-ice pass from Anthony Cirelli, but Lankinen stretched out and made an incredible glove save.
Now, fans can’t stop laughing at Hagel’s reaction. He put his hands on his head and looked up at the scoreboard to watch the replay.
“Hagel’s reaction makes it 10x better,” one fan wrote on X.
“Shot placement matters,” another added.
“I think this has meme potential lmao,” a third joked.
