Matthew Tkachuk and Team USA have been heavily criticized for the aftermath of their Olympic gold-medal win. Now, Tkachuk is under fire yet again—this time for doing an interview with Megyn Kelly.
Matthew Tkachuk was part of the U.S. team that won its first men’s Olympic hockey gold medal in 46 years on February 22. After Jack Hughes scored the overtime winner, the team celebrated in a big way.

Tea USA’s Donald Trump phone call
In the locker room after the game, the team received a phone call from Donald Trump in the midst of their celebrations. The call drew criticism after Trump made a joke about also needing to invite the women’s team to the White House. The men’s team later visited the White House and met with the president.
Matthew Tkachuk Megyn Kelly interview
Following the win, several team members made appearances on American television to speak about their victory. Jack and Quinn Hughes appeared on Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. But now, Tkachuk is once again facing backlash after doing an interview with Megyn Kelly.
Kelly is a journalist who primarily focuses on political reporting. On The Megyn Kelly Show, Tkachuk discussed the men’s relationship with the women’s team during the Olympic tournament and how the teams grew close. He also spoke about the honor of representing the United States and what it meant to win gold for the first time in nearly half a century.
Under fire from fans
Despite that, Tkachuk is now being criticized by fans online for appearing on the show.
“Based on your limited interviews and the fact you showed up on the show of one of the most unhinged, racist conservatives is all I need to know,” one fan wrote on X.
“Disappointing but not surprising to see him on this show,” another added:
“Is he reading a script?” a third commenter asked.
