Fans can’t stop laughing at Charlie McAvoy’s bottle mistake

During a hockey game, there’s a lot to keep track of as a player, and sometimes mistakes happen—both on the ice and on the bench. Now, fans can’t stop laughing at one embarrassing mistake that Charlie McAvoy made from the bench…

Last night, the Boston Bruins suffered their seventh loss in eight games, falling 7–2 to the Ottawa Senators. They now sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, just below the New York Rangers.

Put a smile on fans faces

It’s a tough spot to be in, albeit early in the season. Yesterday’s loss was, of course, tough on both the team and the fans, but Bruins defenseman and assistant captain Charlie McAvoy still managed to put a smile on everyone’s face—albeit unintentionally. In a clip now going viral, McAvoy can be seen on the bench reaching for a bottle. But the lid isn’t completely on, and the energy drink doesn’t come out as expected.

Instead, it misses McAvoy’s mouth entirely and spills all over his jersey. Fans can’t stop laughing at the clip.
“Dude had to decompress the bottle and still didn’t realize,” one fan wrote on X.
“This sums up tonight perfectly,” another added.
“It really took him four business days to realize no water was going into his mouth,” a third joked.
“How the season is going. Makes sense, lol,” a fourth wrote.
