Conor Geekie scores goal that ”deletes” Florida defense

During last night’s preseason game between the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning, most of the talking points were about the many brawls that broke out. But in the third period, the Lightning’s Conor Geekie scored a real ankle-twisting goal that has since gone viral.

It’s still preseason, but the Battle of Florida is nonetheless filled to the brim with heat between the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Last night’s matchup saw a total of 186 penalty minutes in a game that the Lightning won 5–2.

Sucker punch on Brandon Hagel

Afterward, much of the discussion centered on AJ Greer sucker-punching Brandon Hagel before a major brawl broke out.
“What Greer did to Hagel was gutless, and I think this is going farther now. I think come Saturday, we might see some big boys coming in,” analyst Pat Maroon said on the TV broadcast after the game.

Conor Geekie’s ankle-twisting goal

Still, there was also some great hockey being played. With the Lightning leading 3–2, forward Conor Geekie scored a goal that fans are saying “deleted” the ankles of Panthers defenseman Seth Jones. Entering the offensive zone, Geekie deked Jones, making him fall over on his own. Fans are now praising the 21-year-old Geekie for pulling that stunt on an experienced player like Jones.
“Conor Geekie deletes Seth Jones’ ankles,” one Reddit user wrote.
“Absolutely obscene thing he just did in front of a lot of people,” another wrote.
“That might be the nastiest preseason goal of all time,” a third added.
