Game two between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Edmonton Oilers was a feisty one. The Pacific Division rivals took the game into overtime, where Leon Draisaitl scored the 5–4 winner, securing the Oilers’ second away win in the series. However, afterward, Oilers fans were fuming over a nasty cross-check by Nic Roy on Trent Frederic.
The Edmonton Oilers are really starting to heat up in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. After defeating the LA Kings in six games, they traveled to Las Vegas for Round Two. Last night, Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid secured the Oilers’ second straight win on the road, putting them up 2–0 in the series. It was a very physical game with a lot of heavy hitting and some cheapshots.
Major crosschecking penalty
Despite the win, many Oilers fans and players were upset after the game. During overtime, Vegas forward Nic Roy cross-checked Oilers forward Trent Frederic in the face in a particularly nasty play. Roy was given a major penalty and was ejected from the game.
“One of the dumbest, most selfish penalties I’ve ever seen,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“That should be charged as assault,” another added.
Game three will be played on Saturday in Edmonton. You can watch the cross-check in the clip below.
