Toronto Maple Leafs fans are now burning jerseys

The Toronto Maple Leafs started the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs on a high note, winning their first three games against their Ontario rivals, the Ottawa Senators. But now, after losing two straight, fans are starting to worry that the Maple Leafs are choking—again. Some have already begun grieving in their own unique ways…

It’s no secret that the Toronto Maple Leafs seem to carry a playoff curse. They haven’t won a Stanley Cup since 1967, and in recent years, they’ve failed to go all the way despite having one of the league’s most talented rosters. Year after year, they fall short.

Leafs fans in total despair

Now, after back-to-back losses to the Senators, Leafs fans are starting to lose faith in their beloved team—even though Toronto still leads the series 3–2. Following Tuesday night’s loss, during which Senators captain Brady Tkachuk openly mocked them, a video began circulating online that captured the despair of Leafs fans.

Burning Toronto Maple Leafs jerseys

In the video, posted on X (formerly Twitter), someone can be seen burning a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey with Mitch Marner’s name on it.
“Honestly embarrassed to be a fan of this team, but I’ve had enough. My Matthews jersey is next,” the person wrote on X, with several other Leafs fans expressing similar sentiments.
“Was just about to do this to my Matthews jersey,” another user added.
Game six will be played on May 1st in Ottawa. You can watch the clip below.
