This tricky shootout move is awesome

Being cool, calm and collected can be the difference maker during a breakaway in hockey. It’s not always necessary to shoot the puck as hard as possible or pull off moves you’re uncomfortable with. Sometimes, a little hockey dexterity can help you put the puck in the back of the net.

During a home game Friday evening, the Ottawa 67’s dropped the Peterborough Petes in a shootout thanks to the stickhandling prowess of Tye Felhaber. While some slower stickhandling moves may not work against talented goaltenders, I never said anything about fast stickhandling moves.

Felhaber skated in and placed the goaltender in a trance. Stickhandling a hundred-times a minute that close meant the goalie had no chance to react. Granted, a poke-check attempt at the top of the crease may have been enough to stop Felhaber (if timed correctly), but Felhaber’s silky-smooth moves were just too powerful.
