Magician Trevor Zegras adds to his highlight reel with yet another crazy assist

There will be no playoffs for the Anaheim Ducks this year. With only the San Jose Sharks behind them in the Pacific, it’s been yet another disappointing year, but at least they got Trevor Zegras.

Last year, Zegras was a Calder Trophy finalist, and he’s kept on improving this year and is one of the few positives in Anaheim at the moment.

Last year, he displayed some of the magic he can do with lacrosse goals and even lacrosse assists. Zegras has kept on producing points over the year but has been a little shyer about lacrosse moves and crazy dekes.

It may be about the Ducks not playing as good offense, leading to Zegras not being in the right positions to try those things, but Wednesday displayed just how much magic he can produce.

Late in the first period, Zegras broke loose on a breakaway, and as he entered the offensive zone, he went through his legs and whipped a quick pass to Kevin Shattenkirk, who slotted the puck home.

The goal put Anaheim up 2-1 against the Islanders, but later in the game, the Islanders scored five unanswered goals and won 6-3.

Trevor Zegras still deserves praise for his wild assist and for making hockey just more entertaining to watch. What a player!
