Erik Karlsson just tied for the one record that he surely never wanted

Erik Karlsson owns talents and skills that few hockey players in the world have. His talents may allow him to smash franchise records over the course of his career. Monday evening, Karlsson added one franchise record to his name.

Last night, the Montreal Canadiens absolutely hammered the Ottawa Senators. By a score of 8-3, the Senators were embarrassed in their own barn.
In the loss, Senators Captain Erik Karlsson tied a franchise record – one I’m sure he’d like to forget.

Tied for the record

He tallied one assist in the loss, but Karlsson was also a -6 in the contest. That tied Janne Laukkanen and Darren Rumble for the worst plus/minus in one game for the Ottawa Senators. Only 24 players in the history of the NHL (since 1959) have tallied a -6 in a game. What’s even worse is that the blemish came against one of Ottawa’s rivals.

It’s safe to say the loss wasn’t one of Karlsson’s finest moments. Let’s hope the Swedish defenceman can pick it up next game.
