Hockey world in shock after coach hits youth player with a stick

The violent video coming out of Russia has sent the hockey world into shock. During a youth tournament, one player was attacked by his coach and hit in the back with a stick.

The incident took place during a youth tournament in Sochi, Russia. The video showing the coach of the Moscow-based team “Luch”, while being at the bench, snatching a stick from one of his players. He then approached another player on the team, hitting him in the back with the stick after which the child fell to the floor in front of his team.

The youth player, Nikita, had to visit the hospital after the incident but no serious injuries have been reported.
“I was removed from the game before it ended and I was going to miss the next game as well. The coach couldn’t keep his cool and he hit me hard in the back so I fell down. The he just stepped over me and went on,” Nikita said according to Russian media-outlet RSPorts.

Banished from the club

The coach have according to RSports had a criminal case put up against him after the incident.

The Russian youth club released a statement saying they fired the coach after seeing the footage.
“The video with the incident was published on the internet. When we learned about the coach’s behavior, we immediately banished him. In addition, he was removed from the games in Sochi,” the club stated according to RSports.
